LeBron May Need PG....Tony Parker?

Just a thought......

The rumor out there that LeBron James can not play with a dynamic point guard might be totally false. I know LeBron's game is all about playing the "point forward" position but maybe that's why he hasn't won anything yet. You can get through an 82 game regular season with him playing point forward but once you get to the playoffs you need another guy to run the offense. This might not be helping the case for my Knicks (and helping the Bulls case with D-Rose there) but why not try and lure Tony Parker out of San Antonio. Long shot I know but I'm sure Eva Longoria would rather live in NYC then San Antonio and Tim Duncan is 165 years old.

First Order of Business

The first order of business for the Knicks in this off season is not LeBron James it is signing that complimentary star to lure LeBron over to MSG. As much as I like Danilo Galinari, Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas they are not a reason to sign with the Knicks. The Knicks need that superstar whether it's Chris Bosh, Tony Parker or Joe Johnson to sign first. LBJ is not coming here on his own.

Calipari/LeBron Combo? Yeah Right

The report that the great LeBron James and the great COLLEGE recruiter(not coach) John Calipari is being shopped around as a packaged deal sounds like the biggest BS I've ever heard. Granted I have no idea if this is true or not because I don't have "sources" that make reporters "smart" but I just smell the BS in this story.

First off John Calipari was a terrible pro coach 72-112 record with the New Jersey Backboards. Granted NJ had a terrible team but it's amazing what happens to a coach when you pay a few "one and done" McDonlad’s All American’s money under the table (just my opinion but his track record speaks for itself).

Secondly why would LeBron James want to tie himself to a terrible pro coach? The obvious answer is that he wouldn't want to do that. Hey LeBron, Mike D’Antoni is a better coach then Calipari by faaaaaaaar.....I'm just stating the facts.

The Nets should bring these jerseys back.

In case you haven’t heard the Cleveland LeBrons have been knocked out of the playoffs and have essentially kicked off the New York Knicks’ 2010-2011 Season. It is shocking that Cleveland didn’t even make it to the Eastern Conference Finals but that’s what happens when only one man (LeBron) shows up to play. If any “expert” out there acts like they know what LeBron James is going to do in the 2010 off season they are full of more crap then the day after you eat White Castle. So the question is what is LeBron thinking? New York? Chicago? Miami? New Jersey/Brooklyn? LA Clippers? HAHA YEAH RIGHT!! Memphis? Not even funny.

What is going on in the mind of LeBron James? Is he thinking he does not want to turn into Kevin Garnett when he was stuck in Minnesota? KG was the face of the woeful Timberwolves for 11 seasons and was loyal to a fault. Garnett is praised for his loyalty to the T-Wolves organization and the city of Minnesota because he stuck with them through thick and thin (mostly thin) and it showed a lot about his character. However, since his blockbuster trade to the Boston Celtics and his championship in 2008 (his first season in Boston) it is hard to remember KG in another uniform besides the green and white. LeBron and KG seem to be friends, so if you think KG hasn’t given James some pointers about getting out of a third tear city like Cleveland - which compares to Minnesota - then you are living in a fantasy land.

If you are a Cav’s fan you might say well why would he want to go to New York? The Knicks don’t have Jamison or Mo Williams two borderline All Stars on their roster. Well granted the Knicks don’t have Jamison or Williams but what they do have is one of the best front office guys in NBA history running the show in Team President Donnie Walsh and not clueless Cav’s GM Danny Ferry. Also what the Knicks do have is tons a cap space to sign LeBron’s USA Basketball teammate in Chris Bosh who is dying to get out of Canada and he may determine LeBron's fate. The Knicks can also look into signing another All Star free agent out there (Carlos Boozer? Tony Parker?). Or my dream theory is the Knicks can sign LeBron then wait a season and sign Chris Paul who is a free agent next off season (not likely to happen but can't a guy dream?).

LeBron to Brick City/BK? I doubt it. If the Brooklyn arena was open then I’d say there would be a huge chance of him ending up with the New Jersey Backboards, oops I mean New Jersey Nets, oops I mean Brooklyn Nets. However, since the Brooklyn arena is going to take 2-3 years to build, LeBron will not likely waste 2-3 years of his career playing at the Rock in Newark, New Jersey. Why spend 2-3 years over there when you can spend the rest of your career at the World’s Most Famous Arena in New York City? It is just common sense.

LeBron to Chicago? My feeling is that LeBron does not want to go to the Bulls even though it is probably the best place for him to go on talent alone. With D-Rose, Noah and Deng there they are only missing that one dynamic scorer that James obviously is. However, if he does go to Chicago he will always be living in the shadow of his idol Michael Jordan. Even if LeBron wins four championships with the Bulls (which is an astronomical amount in any sport) it won’t be the six rings Jordan’s Bulls had. Switch gears to football and look at Steve Young as a San Francisco 49er when he took over for the legend Joe Montana. Even though Young won that Super Bowl in ‘94 it’s still not the 4 Super Bowls that Joe Montana won including 3 Super Bowl MVPs (the most of all time). So when you think of great quarterbacks in 49er history, you think of Montana first then Young. My belief is LeBron has bigger aspirations then being the second best in anything . . . Bottom line LeBron won’t end up in Chi-Town . . . D-Wade probably will.

LeBron to Miami? If Dwayne Wade stays in Miami then LeBron absolutely won’t want to go there because it won’t be HIS team it will be D-Wade’s team. However, even if Wade bounces to his hometown Chicago in the off season, Miami will still be his team. Now LeBron will be playing in the shadow of Dwayne Wade and he will have little to no supporting cast - odds are he doesn’t end up in South Beach.

In conclusion, (and again this is just one man’s opinion) LeBron James will either stay in Cleveland where he can make the most money contract wise (NBA rules state that you can sign a bigger contract with your current team then signing as a free agent elsewhere) or go to the Knicks where he can make the most money endorsement wise. You better come to NYC LeBron because if you don’t the love affair with New York fans at the Garden will be over and you will now turn into public enemy number 1. The first week of July can not come soon enough. Where do you think he will go?

The more I think about the Knicks adding T-Mac the more intriguing it becomes (even if it feels like he hasn’t played since he was in Toronto) the man is still only 30, healthy and he now has a huge chip on his shoulder. The chip is thanks to Rick Adelman and the Rockets for saying that he is not worthy of more then 10 minutes a game . . . talk about a fall from grace.

There are many positives in adding Tracy McGrady
1. It could push the young Knicks into the playoffs and remind the world how the Garden used to rock when it was playoff time in the Ewing days. This in theory could make New York a sexier option for the big free three available in LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, or Chris Bosh.
2. If Jared Jeffries or Eddy Curry could be added in the deal somehow, someway (doubtful) the Knicks would be clearing up even more cap space to spend on the free agent market.
3. Expiring Contract

The only two ways I’d say no to a T-Mac trade
1. If it’s for one of the rookies (Hill or Douglas)
2. If it takes playing time away from Wilson Chandler and Danillo Gallinari.

New York Knicks 2009-2010 Season Preview

If the Knicks young players can develop the Knicks can make the playoffs as soon as this season. I'm not saying they are going to be a Championship contender but they will definitely compete for the 8th slot.

Let’s begin with the 5 I would start

Starting Lineup

Point Guard - 1 - Chris Duhon - 6-1, 185 pounds - Say what you want about “Chrissssssssssss Duuuuuuuhoooon” but the fact of the matter is he is a serviceable pass first point guard. He is a stable piece to the Knicks starting lineup even though I’m sure the Knicks hope that rookie Toney Douglas takes over soon. Duhon’s numbers are pretty solid from last season considering he broke down towards the end of the year due to excessive fatigue.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Minutes - 36.8, Points - 11.1, Assists 7.2, Steals .9

Shooting Guard - 8 - Danilo Galinari - 6-10(yeah right), 225 pounds - The apparent “savior” (according to D’Antoni) struggled to stay healthy last season with his chronic back problems. In his limited time last year he did show some promise and hit some big shots in the clutch. The 20 year old kid needs to gain some confidence and that killer instinct that he SEEMS to be severely lacking but again he is only 20 years old. Starting him at the 2 would be perfect because he is way to skinny to bang with the big guys down low and it will keep him on the perimeter where he is most effective.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Games - 28, Points - 6.1, Free Throw Percentage - .963(26-27), Three Point Percentage - .444(32-72),

Small Forward - 21 - Wilson Chandler - 6-8, 220 pounds - Chandler aka Beltran shows little emotion but is very effective and can be the X factor of this entire ‘09-‘10 season. He showed flashes of blossoming last season and if he can turn into a top flight scorer the Knicks could have something here at the 3 spot. He has done nothing but fly under the radar around the league while imrpoving and dunking on player after player (ask K.G, ask Kendrick Perkins, ask Jermaine O’Neal, and ask Luis Scola if they know who Wilson Chandler is the answer will probably give them the chills). Some fans have even dreamt that maybe he can be an All-Star one day. However, before anybody gets ahead of themselves with All-Star claims Chandler needs to become more consistent especially on the defensive end. The sky is the limit for the young man out of Depaul who after sitting basically his entire rookie season on the bench played in every game last season.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Games - 82, Points - 14.4, Blocks - .91, Rebounds - 5.4

Power Forward - 7 - Al Harrington - 6-9, 250 pounds - While he is not the quintessential power foward Al Harrington is way to good of a scorer to come off the bench. If he can learn to be more of a team oriented offensive threat he can be a force on this squad that is lacking a true consistent scorer.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Points - 20.1, Rebounds - 6.2, Steals - 1.21

Center - 42 - David Lee - 6-9, 240 pounds - “Double” Lee led the entire NBA in double doubles last season. So if Lee can improve his scoring numbers by improving his jumper as well as his shot blocking numbers, he will be a border line All-Star again this season. The rebounding machine is the heart and soul of this squad and HAS TO GET SIGNED TO AN EXTENSION. I don’t want to hear that Mr. Walsh is saving cap space for better players when every great team in history has needed a player like David Lee. Look at any great team over the last 20 years - The Pistons had Dennis Rodman, The Bulls has Horace Grant, The Rockets had Otis Thorpe, The Bulls second run had Rodman, the Knicks teams of the 90s had Oakley, etc. etc. Every championship caliber team needs a player like Lee to do all the dirty work. There is absolutely no reason to go out and look for another player who rebounds consistently with the best in the league when you have a home grown fan favorite already here. In the words of Vince Vaughn from the movie “Wedding Crashers”, “LOCK IT UP.”
‘08-‘09 Stats - Points - 16, Rebounds - 11.8, Steals 1.00, Blocks .3

Bench

Guard - 2 - Nate Robinson - 5-9(yeah right), 180 pounds - The little spark plug can be a force for any team in this league coming off the bench. When “Nasty Nate” gets hot it is really tough stop him he showed last season when he averaged 23.9 points per game in the month of February. Mike D’Antoni was all over Nate last season to improve his defense and it worked as his steals went up dramatically. What the fan favorite Nate needs to do is start getting serious about playing ball and stop trying to put on a show.
**Side Note** Nate has changed his number from number 4 to number 2. This is a quote from the dumbest web site ever Twitter, he said, “#2 was the very first # I had, and when I was a young boy deion sanders was my fav player and that the # he had Big ups to primeTime” Come on Nate, Dieon was #2 in college which not many people know about and he made the number 21 famous which is obviously worn by Wilson Chandler. I know you played Cornerback in college but you're a Guard in the NBA now so it's time to focus.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Points - 17.2, Steals 1.28, Rebounds 3.9, Assists 4.1

Forward - 20 - Jared Jeffries - 6-11, 240 pounds (he is at least 20 pounds lighter then that) - He is probably the second worst pick up in the history of the New York Knickerbockers behind the great Jerome James of course. Jeffries was brought here to be a defensive specialist but his play since arriving in New York has been nothing close to special. Fellow fans don’t fool yourself into listening to the propaganda that the MSG announcers will tell you that “what Jeffries does doesn’t show up on the stat sheet” it is BS. All that comment does is insult every fan out there who knows what they are talking about and watches every game like myself and many other die hards out there. In the preseason it seemed like he has improved his 3 point shot but we’ll see if he can continue that. No disrespect to Jeffries personally but he needs to be riding the bench for the Knicks to be successful..
‘08-‘09 Stats - Points - 5.3, Rebounds - 4.1, Steals - .84, Blocks - .59

Center - 34 - Eddy Curry - 6-11, 285 pounds - It is the same story this season as it was for Eddy Curry last season - get in shape. I give Curry a pass for only playing in 3 games last year and not being very effective in those games due to personal issues off the court issues. The still very young 26 year old center came into camp thinner but has gotten hurt and has missed all of the preseason so far.

Point Guard - 23 - Toney Douglas - 6-1, 200 pounds - The Knicks bought this First round pick from the Lakers in this years draft. He has looked good in the preseason and summer league but lets not get crazy about the preseason and summer league. However, the Knicks have high hopes for this rook who could see a lot of minutes. Power Forward - 43 - Jordan Hill - 6-10, 235 pounds - The Eight overall pick in the draft has looked pretty good in his time through the preseason and summer league as well as showing he has a nice touch. Guard - 0 - Larry Hughes - 6-5, 185 pounds - Contrary to popular belief Larry Hughes can be a solid player on this team this season. He is a good scorer and never seemed to be in good shape last season as he struggled to get his rhythm both offensively and at times defensively last season. First, while still with the Bulls, he missed the first 8 games of the year then after clashing with the Bulls management he was then sat down for the next month and a half until he was finally traded to New York. Obviously in being a player that has played consistent minutes his whole career while missing that amount of time in a season can throw your rhythm off. If Hughes can bounce back this year and stay in the rotation he can be an under the radar surprise for this squad.
‘08-‘09 Stats - Points - 11.6, Steals - 1.31

Center - 31 - Darko Milicic - 7-0, 275 pounds - The biggest bust in the Detroit Pistons franchise history and the pick that could have started a dynasty for the Pistons. You’ve all heard the story that Dumars selected Darko and passed up on Mello, D-Wade, & Bosh. This black cloud has hung over Darko’s head his entire career and it is not his fault because he is simply not a player worthy of a number 2 pick overall. I know he is an expiring contract and is 7 feet and they say he can shoot somewhat (even though he has never made a three pointer in his career) and that he “will fit well in D’Antoni’s system” but he is not the answer. Come on Mr. Walsh the Knicks are already a laughing stock don’t torture us fans more and make us sit through an entire year of the Darko.

An Embarrassment - Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Won't Leave The Court

In a very funny incident the Maccabi Tel Aviv coach (who I will not name because this was obviously a publicity stunt) refused to leave the court after being thrown out after receiving two technical fouls. He received the second technical after an offensive foul was called on Al Harrington for some reason he feels he needs to argue when HE GETS A CALL. What a joke this was and it was an embarrassment for the Maccabi Tel Aviv team who will get their wish and will be all over every blog and T.V. talk show.

First he is on the Knicks and no matter how bad they have been over the last few years he has been the heart of that team. He is the only one who ever spoke up publicly against Stephon “Me” Marbury after he went AWOL and left “his” team high and dry in Phoenix 2 years ago -

Q-Rich has now been traded for the 3rd time in the last month. First the Knicks traded Q-Rich to Memphis for one of the biggest draft busts in NBA history Darko Milicic (seems like a bad trade for the Knicks but Darko can block some shots not to mention the expiring contract). Then Q-Rich was traded from Memphis back to Clipperland for former teammate Zach Randolph. So Q-Rich is done moving and was back where it all started for him in L.A. (remember Q-Rich, Elton Brand, Darius Miles, & Lamar Odom were supposed to resurrect the Clippers?). WRONG....Q-Rich's reunion with the Clippers lasted 3 days as he was traded from Clipperland to Minnesota for Sebastian Telfair, Mark Madson, & Craig Smith. Poor Q-Rich he is now in the cold and on a bad young team again. Good luck Q hopefully you aren’t traded again tomorrow or for your sake.....hopefully you are.

Hey Mr. Walsh Will You Re-Sign "Double" Lee Already!?!?!?!

Just wanted to pop in and give a message to Mr. Walsh and D'Antoni that they BETTER make sure they re-sign Lee to a multi-year extension. Don't re-sign him for a one year tender then hope he will re-sign next year because that would be a joke. The Blazers are dangling offers for Lee as well as "other teams" according to his agent. However, I believe in my heart of hearts that as bad as it has been Lee he does not want to go anywhere else. He is beloved in New York and I'm sure he wants to be part of this team when it turns around. He is a fan favorite and re-signing him will be the best move the Knicks will make this whole off-season. Also did you really think signing the 156 year old Grant Hill would excite fans? Or did you really think signing the 134 year old hated Jason Kidd would? Are you kidding me with this? Let the young guys play!!! Let the Chandler's and the Gallinari's of the world get consistent minutes. Stephen Curray would have excited fans but he was picked one pick before the Knicks by the Warriors. Jordan Hill looks like a good player and so does Toney Douglas they have both played well in summer league games.

Again the outcome of this season rests upon re-signing "Double" Lee.....a Nate Robinson re-signing would be awesome as well but Lee is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important. I'm not saying the Knicks are going to come anywhere close to winning a title but a success full season would finally making the playoffs and getting these young guys some valuable experience. Don't get me wrong I love little Nate but a man averaging double/doubles every night is not easy to come by.

2008-2009 New York Knicks End of Season Awards

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but writing about the Knicks has been rough with them being out of it for a while now, I simply lost my motivation to write about them. I really believed they would make the playoffs this year with the 8th seed and it hurts that they didn’t. I know I know 2010 but I wanted a little more progress this season. If they didn't trade Crawford they probably would have made the playoffs but I’d be beating a dead horse if I started talking about that again.

Walt Frazier Award (MVP) – David Lee - 16.1 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 1 spg
The best player on the team and if they don’t resign him they will be making a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge mistake and fans would never forgive Mr. Walsh. At the time of this post “Double” Lee currently is leading the league in double doubles over Dwight Howard 63-62. Lee would have been an All Star if the Knicks had a little more respect throughout the league but more respect comes with more wins (and more wins comes with more respect from officials as well the Knicks got screwed on calls all year long).

Patrick Ewing Award (Offensive Player) Al Harrington – 20.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg
Al “Cap Space” Harrington had some huge games this season after being acquired by the Knicks early on this year. He posted two 39 point efforts as well as a 38 point effort while leading the team in scoring. Harrington, however, is a black hole on offense because once he touches the ball 9 times out of 10 he is going to shoot it up. If Harrington can learn to play a team oriented game then he will be a tremendous asset to this squad. However, there is one thing for sure though he can flat out shoot.

Willis Reed Award (Team Leader) – Quentin Richardson – 10.2 ppg, 4 rpg, .6 spg
Q-Rich didn’t have a good season numbers wise and at points throughout the season he couldn’t crack the rotation but if you pay attention to the games he is by far the team leader. He is the guy who is going to call someone out for not being a true teammate (Stephon “Me” Marbury) and he is also the guy who will get in a teammates face for not hustling or playing up to their potential (Eddy Curry). Richardson J might not be what it used to be but he is definitely a valuable piece to this team.

John Starks Award (Most Heart) – Nate Robinson – 17.4 ppg, 4.1 apg, 1.3 spg
Crypto-Nate, Nasty Nate, Nate the Great (or whatever you want to call him) stepped up huge this year and took a tremendous step forward. He took a huge step forward offensively and more importantly defensively. The only problem with Nate is that he is immature and as described by Mike D’Antoni (paraphrasing) his biggest strength is his biggest weakness because he can get a shot when ever he wants. Nate also needs to mature a little he gets trapped in one on one show downs with opposing point guards and needs to continue to play a team oriented game. However, there is one thing clear that little Nate gives it everything he has every night. Even with that said he is still the heart and soul of this team and us fans would not forgive management if the fan favorite Nate is not resigned.......Shake and bake.

Anthony Mason Award(Most Improved Player)Wilson Chandler–14.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.1 apg
After unfairly being benched for the majority of last season by New York’s former genius coach, Wilson Chandler came on strong dunking on anybody who got in his way. You can call him Mr. Smooth or the Carlos Beltran of the Knicks because he shows no emotion but one thing’s for sure he will always gives it his all. The skies the limit for this youngster because he basically just finished his rookie year.

Derek Harper Award (Best Shut Down Defender) Larry Hughes – 11 ppg, 1.4 spg
Every since Hughes was traded to the Knicks he has been the man who gets assigned the go to scorer on the opposing team. His numbers don’t reflect his stellar defensive play because he didn’t have consistent minutes while in Chicago. If he doesn’t get traded it will be good to see him play a full year at the Garden and more people will take notice of his great defensive play.

Shandon Anderson Award (Biggest Waste of Space) Jared Jeffries – 5.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, .8 spg
I’ve given off a lot of hate towards Jared Jeffries over the last 3 seasons he’s been here and rightfully so. He can’t shoot, he’s over rated defensively, he’s over rated by MSG announcers with the “little things” he does, he can’t catch a pass in traffic, he can’t shoot free throws, and he messes up virtually every fast break he is involved in. It’s nothing personal but if the Knicks want to win in the future(he has 2 years left plus a player option for a 3rd year…THANKS ISIAH!!) they either have to bury him on their bench or trade him.

That is all folks for the 2008BL-2009BL Knicks season I know there are a few games left but I am in full baseball mode until the NBA playoffs begin. Hopefully next year the Knicks will play better throughout the season in 2009BL-2010BL (BL - Before LeBron) and not just in bits and pieces.

After the first round Nate went into the locker room after the first round to put on the green St. Patties Day uniform to signify cryptonite and it was histerical.

Reggie Miller gets the just STFU (Shut The F*** Up) Award last night. He was annoying and I enjoyed how Kenny Smith continuously put him in his place. Call it bias if you want but even during regular games I find myself yelling at the TV for Reggie to shutup. Is it because I am a die hard Knick fan and I hate Reggie "The Original Flopper" Miller anyway? I'll admit that might be the case.

The Knicks Better Go After Amare

Amare Stoudemire is "officially on the trade block" and the Knicks should waste no time in entertaining Phoenix with offers. It is being "reported" that Phoenix is looking for expiring contracts and draft picks. Suns management is tired of their team under achieving it seems to be that simple. With that said, it still wouldn't be a particularly smart move by the Suns to trade the 26 year old All-Star Starter. However, the possibility the recession has hit the Suns organization can not be over looked in this rough economic time.

There is always one thing certain about the Knicks they are not going to be hit by the recession. They are currently at the top or close to the top of the most valuable franchises in all of sports (I don't care enough to look that up but I remember hearing that). So the Knicks can afford to bring in Amare and they still would be in a position to have enough money under the cap to sign LeBron in 2010. Honestly, do you think LeBron would want to come to New York more if there was already an MVP caliber player on the Knicks? Uhhh, YEAH!! Not to mention the obvious ties Amare has to Coach D'Antoni.

I was trying to work out possible trades on ESPN's Trade Machine and the best possilbe one that would work out salary wise (while keeping "Double" Lee) is Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson and throw in however many first round picks and straight cash you can for Amare Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa (don't cry this time Leandro Isiah's not the coach anymore) and I don't see why the Knicks wouldn't do this. However, if the Knicks have to part with fan favorite "Double" Lee to get Amare Stoudemire obviously you make the move

Mr. Walsh has said (paraphrasing)the goal is to get under the cap by 2010 but if a star player you can't pass up on becomes available then we would do our best to pick him up. The only problem is that Phoenix might be a little immature in not wanting to give Amare to D'Antoni and will probably demand for "Double" Lee. Bottom line is getting a star player like Amare Stoudemire is not just a dream for THIS year it could be reality.

Hard Loss To Swallow

The Knicks lost yesturday afternoon to the Blazers 109-108 with this tough scooping finger roll by Brandon Roy at the buzzer. New York has ended this "Dream Week" (which is more like "Hell Week") going 0-4 and this is not the type of week the Knicks hoped for. Overall the Knicks played well and showed alot of fight and if it weren't for a few questionable calls N.Y. mitght've been able to beat the Cavs this past Wednesday.

When Kobe is Hot, He Can't Be Stopped

Kobe Bryant started off the game by hitting a few jump shots and immediately I thought to myself, "uh oh." Wilson Chandler was draped all over him all night long and it just did not matter. Kobe would hit Chandler with a pump fake then a spin and it would be cash, or it would be a one dribble pull up and it would be cash or it would be a fake left then fake right then fade away left and it would be cash plus the foul. It was just an amazing performance by the best player in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant broke Bernard King's record of 60 points at the new Garden by dropping 61 last night. It's going to be funny what MSG Network calls this night like they call Michael Jordan's 55 points the "double nickle." How about.....Kobe Bryant's "Half-dollar-dime-penny" hosted by Al Trautwig (don't get all crazy MSG I'm just teasing).

When Kobe gets hot there is nobody in league who can keep up with him and I mean nobody as in LeBron as well. Once Kobe got going full speed ahead in the second half the Knicks just got deflated and were blown out a lot worse then the final score was - only losing by 9. Out of all the stats from last night of Kobe Bryant (19-31 from the field and 3-6 from downtown) the most impressive to me was the 20-20 from the free throw line.

The Knicks Are In Hell Week

The Knicks start off their hell week with a game at home against the defending Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers, then Wednesday they host the LeBrons, Friday they host the World Champion Bastin Celtics and then to cap it off they have to go to Portland next Sunday.....YIKES!! If the Knicks can some how win two of these games it'll be a huge accomplishment (hopefully they win the Wednesday game that I am going to and spent $55 on!!). However, if New York can keep this hot streak they have been on and somehow win more then two, they would be on a huge high heading into the All-Star break.

There are some injuries that'll help the Knicks out as Andrew Bynum is out with a knee injury (again) and Kevin Garnett is banged up and has the flu. So hopefully the Knicks can pull some of these huge games out. It's going to be a fun week of basketball to say the least and it'll definitely help me get over my football withdrawal (FOR THE TIME BEING!!).

What I will be doing when Eddy Curry returns from injury (and what any sensible Knick fan out there will be doing) is rooting like hell for Eddy Curry and not booing him as usual. Hopefully, D’Antoni makes Curry the focal point of the offense when he returns from his injury within the next game or 2. If he plays well in the next month and half until the February 19th deadline he will be valuable enough to be traded. If he is the focal point of the offense and Curry stays healthy Eddy will put up his usual scoring numbers of somewhere around 18 ppg. If he puts up those kind of numbers there is going to be some (sucker) GM out there that will trade for the 6’11 290+ pound big man. The (sucker) GM will over look the fact that Curry has been over weight throughout his career and he will over look the fact that at 6’11 he can’t block shots or grab rebounds. Hopefully, this (sucker) GM will only look at one fact and that is that he can flat out score from 5 feet away.

If the Knicks can move Curry for a contract that expires before the 2010 season they will be able to afford two big superstars OR a big superstar and maybe two other All Star caliber players. Reported by (the best Knicks beat writer out there) Howard Beck of the NY Times - Mr. Walsh is applying for something called a "disabled-player exception" for Cuttino Mobley. Cuttino Mobley was acquired in the Zach Randolph trade then found out afterwards that he had a heart condition which forced him to retire. If the NBA grants the Knicks this "disabled-player exception" it will give the Knicks $4.3 million chip to use in a trade or a free agent signing. This will free up a roster spot, which they will hopefully use on Patrick Ewing Jr. Young Pat is starting to tear up the D-League in his last game he posted a stat line of 21 points (9-17 shooting), 11 rebounds (2 offensive), 3 steals and 1 block. The exciting way the Knicks have been playing (even though they are losing) have made Knick fans forget about their "star" point guard Stephon Marbury. There have been even more reports that if the Knicks buy out Stephon "ME" Marbury that the BASTIN Celtics would pick him up. The Celtics would only have to pay Marbury the minimum salary. (Side rant……I am tired of every media outlet making Marbury out to be the victim in this "saga", he made his bed now he is laying in it!!)

Memo to Mr. Walsh DO NOT BUY OUT MARBURY!!! If you buy out Stephon and the Celtics do indeed pick him up the pain us Knick fans would feel would be immeasurable when the Celtics win another championship. Just imagine Steph in Celtic green holding up the Larry O’Brien Trophy….. it is tough to do but I try not to think about things like that. For example for me it would be like when Keyshawn Johnson dissed the New York Jets (my favorite football team) and went on to win a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay …..that hurt.

What would the Knicks really accomplish by buying out the most selfish player in team history? The answer is absolutely nothing but an open roster spot. All it takes is just one point guard injury somewhere in the NBA to make a team desperate enough to trade for Marbury. Jared Jeffries is the worst player on the team. Sorry for being that blunt about it but that’s what I do. There’s no reason to beat around the bush about the second worst free agent signing in franchise history (the first is obviously Jerome James). Jeffries is soooo over rated defensively, he is a stick at 6’11 and 211 pounds, he has no hands (can’t catch a pass in traffic at all), he can’t shoot (terrible free throw shooter), he’s an awkward runner, he can’t rebound, and he always has a dumb founded look on his face.

Jeffries was brought here by Isiah Thomas to be a shut down defender. The only thing Jeffries has shut down as a Knick was Carmello Anthony’s pride. Jeffries wouldn’t stop going after Carmello "Hit and Run" Anthony after Melo sucker punched Mardy Collins. I will always respect Jeffries as a person for sticking up for his teammate but just because you do that does not mean you have game.

The Knicks aren’t going to win for another few years with their management and the entire NBA eyeing 2010. However, if Jared Jeffries has consistent minutes in the rotation even with LeBron or Amare on their way to the Knicks they will never win. Jeffries will be under contract for the 2010 season even with his player option for that year…..do you really think he’s not going to exercise that? He will never receive a contract close to the 5 year $30 million contract he currently has for the rest of his career…..mark my words.

Sorry for not writing for a while but I have been real busy with a lot of personal matters and was not able to sit at a computer for an extended period of time but now I’m back (and totally free of MVN-Father Knickerbocker restrictions)

The Knicks were embarrassed last night at the Garden dropping their 5th straight game 120-107 to the garbage Timberwolves. Sebastian "Should’ve Went to College" Telfair, Rashad "All of a Sudden has Allan Houston's 3 Point Stroke" McCants, and Al "Better Be an All Star" Jefferson killed the Knicks and held off New York’s 4th quarter comeback. The Knicks are now unfortunately in a familiar place in their division again….last place. Telfair had 20 points, 8 assists and 3 steals, Rashad McCants had 23 points knocking down seven….yes seven three point shots, and Al Jefferson did his usual thing with 21 points and 15 boards.

Al Harrington, who has been outstanding since coming to New York, dropped 26 last night hitting 10 of 21 shots. Harrington should definitely be kept around for years to come he is part of the solution.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter Telfair drove down the lane for an easy "and 1" lay in "Double" Lee was late on the help defense and committed the foul. There was an immediate time out by D'Antoni. Coach D'Antoni was furious screaming at Lee to a point where Lee went to walk out of the huddle but was pulled back by Tim Thomas. Lee then came back out on the floor and responded with 3 rebounds (1 offensive) and hitting 3 of 4 free throws in the next 30 seconds of the game. It is so nice to have a coach who knows how to coach and its nice to have a coach who knows what buttons to push on certain players.

"Star"bury Suspended 1 Game

Stephon Marbury was suspended one game by the team for refusing to go into the game. The Knicks are treating Stephon the way he deserves to get treated because he left the team last year high and dry in Phoenix. At least now he is getting docked some of his massive contract even if it just for one game. Several players (Q-Rich) have come out recently expressing their dislike for Steph for the way he has acted and the way he is acting so screw Marbury let him rot on the bench.

The Knicks are treating Stephon terrible and that if they want to attract LeBron or anybody else in 2010 then they have to treat him right. The idiots on Fox's "Sports Extra" show or the NY Post are saying things like this and they do not know what they are talking about. If anybody else out there is saying this then they are down right stupid as well and should not be taken seriously when covering the Knicks.

So after Stephon did what he did last year in Phoenix and rejected an offer to actually play this year I'd just let him rot on the bench for the season. Put him on the disabled list or suspend him for the season for "conduct detrimental to the team" because I'd rather see Jerome James in uniform sitting on the bench then Marburys tattooed head. Hey it's not like the Knicks are looking to win this year or next year so to say this is a distraction to the "team" then you are down right stupid as well. Also to simply buy out Marbury would just be giving him his wish and he'll sign with Boston the next day and win a championship and Knick fans honestly how would that make you feel? I rest my case.

The Knicks/Clippers trade of Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins for (chucker) Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley was made "official" today. If you really thought this trade wasn't going to happen because of Mobley's alleged heart problems then you are as dense as Paris Hilton. Bottom line is that the Knicks do not care if Mobley has potential heart problems because they are only renting the guy anyway. If there was any real heart problems then the NBA would step in and not let Mobley play. Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley are only going to be here for a short period of time and that is that.

Al Harrington on the other hand has talent and if he plays well they should think about keeping him on this squad for the future. I've said it once and I'll say it again you have to have some kind of solid role players on this team if you want to attract LeBron. If there is only C or D level talent on this team then why would LeBron want to leave his hometown to play with a bunch of scrubs in NYC? Well I guess the playing in Madison Square Garden could help alittle bit but talent would put him over the top.

The Knicks play the Cleveland LeBrons tonight at the Garden and you know the media is going to have a field day with this. It's tough as a fan to get excited about a Knicks game when the team traded away all their talent and basically packed it in for the next two years. Granted the trades were the right moves and I am not against them, it's just that as a die hard Knick fan I want to get excited for my team but I can't. Well I can't get excited yet because I know Mr. Walsh has something else up his sleeve (I don't have any "sources" out there to make me look smart like the "genius" beat writers out there I just have a hunch). The only reason to tune in will to see how LeBron dunks it on someone or how he gets "defended" by Wilson Chandler or Q-Rich or to see the next highlight by Nate Robinson.

As I am sure you have heard by now the Knicks dumped their salaries and their 2 best players Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford. They traded Jamal Crawford to Golden State straight up for Al Harrington and they traded Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to Clipperland (sucks for them) for Cuttino Mobley (great lefty shooter) and former Knick (ball hog) Tim Thomas. In trading their top two scorers they essentially have packed it in for the next two years but being the die hard fan that I am what am I supposed to do for the next two years?

I love basketball and I love the Knicks and I'm still going to be watching the games but I am not particularly happy in the short term about having a crappy team once again. However, the great start the Knicks got off to basically raised the value of their players and made it easier for Mr. Walsh to pull the trigger on these trades.

As fans we have to sacrifice the short term for the long term. So when we have LeBron or D-Wade or both we will not be upset about not competing for the '08-'09 and '09-'10 seasons they will be distant memories.

Another point is that the Knicks still have to keep some sort of talent on this squad to attract these free agents. They must resign Wilson Chandler in that same 2010 offseason who will be a restricted free agent. LeBron or anybody won't want to come to a team with a bunch of C and D level players and wait a few years to win.

Now all the Knicks have to do is get rid of Eddy "Oliver Miller" Curry but the likely hood of that happening is slim to none......BUY HIM OUT!!!!

Knicks Fall To Celtics

It was a tough loss to swallow for the New York Knickerbockers tonight falling to the Celtics 110-101. The Knicks played well offensively as usual but typically there was no defense to be found. For the majority of the game until the 4th quarter there was no intensity and who knows why. At least they showed that fire at the end of the game by coming back and cutting it with in 4. Wilson Chandler could have cut it within 3 but he missed a big free throw on an And 1 then Brian Scalabrine ended the Knicks comeback by nailing a 3. Even with the missed free throw Chandler continues to impress me as he had an excellent game scoring 23 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. The refs also had a terrible game missing tons of calls on both sides but in the end the better team did win. Q-Rich also went on after the game talking about the refs lackadaisical night adding, "They are the champs we are gonna get T-d up first" He is absolutely right but the Knicks have to earn that respect from the refs to but hey at least they are going in the right direction.

Huge Game Tonight: Knicks @ Celtics

The Knicks are traveling to Boston tonight or BASTIN as they like to call it to play the champs. Knick fans before you get flash backs to the 50 point Boston Massacre last year Kevin Garnett will not be playing. The Defensive Player of the Year will be serving a one game suspension for taking a "swing" at Andrew Bogut of the Bucks (what a joke that suspension is a fine would have been fine).

The lane will be open for Duhon, Nasty Nate and J. Crawford to get in there, yeah they'll still have Kendrick Perkins but come on he's no K.G. (but then again nobody is). However, there are still two future first ballot Hall of Famers on their squad in Ray-Ray and Paul Pierce. Expect a high scoring affair and if the Knicks can somehow come out on top it will be a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge confidence booster that can last with them for a while.

Big Game Tuesday Night

After the heartbreaking loss to the Dallas Mavericks at home in O.T. the Knicks have to travel to Boston......great. New York and Boston will renew their city vs city rivalry. If the Knicks lose Tuesday night (which is likely) it's going to be a little easier on the hearts of us New Yorkers who have been dominated by the Bostonians in sports over the last few years because of how the Jets held off Bill Beli-cheat and the Patriots last Thursday night. However, before you can just give the win to the Celtics the game has to be played first and you know Mike D'Antoni is going to have this team ready to play. The only problem is that the Celtics are just a little more talented (sarcasm) then the Knicks so it is going to be a rough evening. Hey at least this guy isn't coaching anymore.

A few "expert" beat writers and also talk radio "experts" out there say play MARBURY?!?!?! They are mainly saying "well if you are going to lose games why not play Marbury so you can win some." Excuse me?!? If you have watched any bit of the NBA over the last ten years or any Knick game at least over the last few years you would know that Stephon Marbury's teams do not win....EVER!!!

First off the guy left his team hanging last year with nothing!! Not to mention it was in Phoenix against guess who.....current coach Mike D'Antoni. D'Antoni knows first hand all about Steph's selfishness and how he deserted this team last season. Also Steph was on Phoenix with D'Antoni before D'Antoni had him traded just a few games into the season he had see something then also. Do not forget about what he did to his boy Kevin Garnett leaving him out in the cold in Minnesota so he can make his money (you think he regrets that now?).

Marbury does have the most talent on this team BY FAR but the Knicks are 1-2 because they don't play defense not because Stephon Marbury isn't on the floor. Chris Duhon has never been a full time starter in this league before so relax and let him gain some valuable experience. Mardy Collins has never had any real playing time in his young career so why not let him get experience also? You have to give Duhon and Collins at least 20-30 games before you can say they are terrible and cry for Marbury. If you put Marbury in now then all you will do is take away playing time from Duhon, Collins and Nate Robinson (who was born for this system) and retard their growth even more (Isiah and Larry Brown already messed up Collins and Nate enough).

If Marbury gets in he's just going to do what he usually does and that is shoot at the wrong times and overly embarrass his teammates for making a mistake. Steph can not be on a young team trying to learn the ropes of the NBA. He's been on several teams and they always get better when he gets traded. Again please understand that it has only been 3 games!!!!!

New York is in rebuilding mode and everybody seemed to know that before the season started. Also everybody seemed to understand it was about gaining experience for the young guys and winning games is not a priority right now. Yet after 3 games there are all these so called "experts" out there who say Marbury should be on the floor. AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!?!?! The priority right now (I feel like a broken record) is to cut salary by 2010 while making the fans as happy as possible while they lose some games over the next 2 seasons.

Bottom line the Knicks are in full rebuilding mode so there are going to be some struggles. I know Knick fans are the most passionate fans in the world that doesn't like the losing (and I am one of them) but YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT. Putting Stephon Marbury in will only push that elusive championship further away from us fans in the future.

Knicks Beat the Heat in Opener

The Knicks beat the Miami Heat in their home opener last night 120-115. "Double" Lee lived up to his nickname and as expected had a double-double, Wilson Chandler looked great, and Q-Rich played the way he played in Phoenix. I am not getting ahead of myself I know it's the first game and they had to hold off a late charge by the Heat but a win is a win. THE KNICKS ARE UNDEFEATED so I am going to enjoy that for what it's worth. Best of all Stephon "Me" Marbury and Eddy "Oliver Miller" Curry both got big fat DNPs as they sat on the bench next to the legend Jerome James all night long. Again all hail D'Antoni for getting it right. More on this game later today or tomorrow I gotta get my ass to work. Knicks Season Starts Tonight....Optimistic?

The new season is upon us finally and guess what Greg Oden is hurt. It’s just a "tweaked ankle" but it still has gotta suck to be him right now. Now on to more important things, the New York Knicks are back and back in a "big" way tonight. The Knickerbockers will be taking on the Miami Heat at the Garden and I bet you Isiah Thomas won’t be attending. Usually at the start of every season I am so pumped for the Knicks to get going and hopefully get better. It really never matters how terrible the Knicks have been in recent years I still feel they can make some noise but this year is different.

This year is different because I know management is in rebuilding mode and I know it’s going to take a few years to rebuild but I’m tired of waiting. However, rebuilding right now means getting under the cap by 2010 not necessarily making the team better in the meantime (which is rididculous to me). Everybody is pointing towards 2010’s free agent class headed by Lebron, D-Wade and Chris Bosh but who knows if you are going to get one of them. However, I love basketball and I love the Knicks but what am I supposed to do not root for my team? Am I supposed to hope they lose so they get a better draft pick? I realize the Knicks don’t have the talent to be a championship team but I can not sit through another 20-30-win season.

I am highly against rooting against your own team even if a loss means a better player it just goes against everything that sports is supposed to be about. When Patrick Ewing Jr. didn’t make the team for no other reason but financial issues my reaction is what the F? Bottom line you are the New York Knicks, you play in Madison Square Garden with money flowing in and you don’t want to sacrifice a few 100 grand to satisfy a long-suffering fan base? Don’t give me the excuse "well Anthony Roberson can shoot the 3" yeah well other then that he is terrible and he’s not going to play so who the hell wants him on the team over Ewing? I do realize that there’s no reason to bug out about the last guy sitting at the end of the bench, which is why I didn't have a whole post directed at my disgust of cutting Ewing Jr. However, if there’s an injury Ewing might get a chance to come in and do some damage (or at least dunk it on somebody). Wouldn’t you want a guy who can fly and play defense to come in rather then a guy who if he is open can maybe hit a three?

It is a new season and rooting against the Knicks winning is not going to happen at least around me. I don't want to wait but I realize this isn't a championship team and championship teams take time to build but (maybe stupidly) I don’t want to wait 2 years for it to actually change. At the very least they have to show a change, don't get blown out by 50 and don't have the biggest cheers come from a New York Giant on the jumbo-tron anymore. Call me selfish if you want but I’m about to turn 24 on November 7th and I’ve been waiting my whole life for a championship by one of my teams (Jets, Mets, and Knicks) and I am tired of waiting.

If Patrick Ewing Jr.'s dunk on Brook Lopez isn't enough to make the team I don't know what is. Any fan of the Knicks knows how this story goes if he doesn’t make this squad he will get picked up by another team without a doubt and stick it to the Knicks every chance he gets (it’s happened way to many times). I mean his two posterizing dunks this preseason should be enough alone to make this rebuilding team (not to mention his solid D). The first was a huge put back dunk on “Big Baby” & the Celtics, which opened eyes around the league. The second was this monstrous dunk on fellow rookie Brook Lopez flying down the sidelines the way his pops used to do it. In the words of Lil’ Wayne, Ewing Jr. is definitely “stuntin’ like his Daddy” lighting up the Garden with his (in Clyde’s words) “Master Blasters." Patrick is already a fan favorite and this dunk was number 1 on Sportscenter’s top plays (It means nothing but as a fan it brings a smile to my face). Since the Knicks front office has no plans on winning for the next two years anyway why not lose with some monster dunks and some fun right?

Person in Isiah Thomas' Home Gets Rushed to Hospital

The Garden said that "Isiah is fine" but the man remains unidentified. I wish everyone involved the best and I hope this 47 year old whether it's Isiah or not has a speedy recovery. There are rumors that it is Isiah but everything is speculation at this time so don't read to deeply into everything out there until the full story comes out.

Since the season is starting next week I wanted to re-post my Season Preview so in case you missed it enjoy

First off my predictions 38 wins possible 8th seed in the playoffs if they get lucky. I know I say this every year BUT they have had the talent to finish with 38 wins and now they have a real coach too. The (L)Eastern Conference has gotten better but a team under .500 will still be able to make the post season (and get swept by the Celtics).

Player by Player Breakdown

Wilson Chandler - 6'8, 220 - Last year's first round pick has a tremendous upside that was not shown last season because of "coach" Thomas unfairly benching him. He seemingly can dunk it on anyone and has a nice baby jumper as well. With improvement in his defense he will become a solid NBA player that will hang around this league and seems to thrive in the 7 second or less offense. There's nothing but upside with this kid......stay tuned.

Mardy Collins - 6'6, 220 - Has tremendous talent on the defensive side of the ball, yes I meant that, tremendous talent. The only problem with Collins is that he lacks confidence. He plays ball while looking over his shoulder and second-guessing his every move. To his defense he has been playing under a clueless coach and has never been in the regular rotation having only played in 98 games. Up to this point of his career he is only known for one thing and that's taking a sucker punch from Carmelo "Hit and Run" Anthony.

Jamal Crawford - 6'5, 200 - The best pure shooter on this team (that is unless Allan Houston can't complete his comeback) and flat out the best scorer. I've been saying the same thing about him for years. I feel like a broken record that he has to put on some more weight and improve his defense. Coming into last season he definitely bulked up and hustled more on defense but the season was a lost cause considering all the distractions, so improvements were overlooked by many beat writers (or "experts") out there.

Eddy Curry - 6'11, 285 - I've had my fun in the past poking fun at Curry for his weight, his lack of hustle and desire on the court. Also, how he is 6'11", listed as 285 and averages .49 blocks per game for his entire seven year career. However, if you are one of those Knick fans that don't want to wait two years to win some games we are going to need Curry to get into some sort of shape and play back up center to "Double" Lee. The only problem is Curry was out of camp with a bacterial infection, so to nobody's surprise he is out of shape early on in the season. If you've paid attention to Eddy Curry's horrible Knick career you know he was coming into camp out of shape anyway, bacterial infection or not. It looks like Curry is going to have a nice seat next to Jerome James on the bench because he is probably not going to be in the rotation.....FINALLY!!

Chris Duhon - 6'1, 185 - In back up minutes last season Duhon averaged five assists per game. For the Knicks last season the team leader in assists per game was their 2 guard Jamal Crawford and he averaged......five assists per game. Clearly this is an upgrade over last season's "starting" point guard in "Mr. Me" Marbury who averaged 4.7 assists per game. Duhon is a very good pass-first point guard, something the Knicks haven't had in years. However, take it easy on the Steve Nash comparisons. Duhon does not have the talent to win consecutive MVP awards (but of course I would love if he proved me wrong) but then again not many players do have the talent to win consecutive MVP awards.

Patrick Ewing Jr. - 6'8, 240 - The knock on Ewing Jr. is that he didn't have a stellar college career, but who cares. At least he went to college and received that experience and mental development. He is the same age as Eddy Curry and Curry has been in the league for seven years, and never has lived up to the hype. He is in the rare win/win situation in New York. He is the son of the greatest Knick of all time and they got him for Frederic Wies who has never played a game on this side of the Atlantic.

Danilo Gallinari - 6'8, 210 - The first round (tooth) pick of the Knicks is hurt right now (sounds like a Knicks first round pick to me). So while I live in New York I never get to see (or would care to see) any European games, I honestly have no idea how good he is or how good he can be. The only action I have seen him in is in the Summer League but his jumper looks like it is on point. Rumor has it he might start off in the D-League as we'll so stay tuned....

Dan Grunfeld - Uh, no.

Allan Houston - 6'6, 205 - The Knick great is trying to come back so he can go out on his own terms but is now sidelined with a hurt quad. Hopefully he makes the squad, considering he hasn't played in a few years at all. His main reason for coming back is that he does not want to have his knee injuries force him out. I hope he makes the team, but who's roster spot is he going to take? How wierd would it be if Houston made the team and he was wearing number 14 and not his old number 20?

Jerome James - 7'1, 285 - What can I say about him? I respect the hell out of the guy, I know I shouldn't, but I can not help it. Jared Jeffries - 6'11, 240 - One of the worst free agent pick ups in team history was apparently playing well in training camp and was closing in on a starting job. However, now Jeffries is out with a broken leg and we won't be able to see how well Jeffries supposedly fits in D'Antoni's system for at least six weeks. I have been real critical of Jeffries in the past for his terrible play and if anybody has paid attention to the Knicks over his tenure here you would see that this is rightfully so. In his entire Knick career he has looked lost out there but then again Isiah Thomas was the "coach". He was supposed to be a shut down defender in Washington but somehow he comes to New York and players routinely blow by him (but then again Isiah Thomas was his "coach"). I'm willing to give Jeffries a shot at redemption now that he has (one more time) a real coach. It's just too bad he broke his leg and we won't be able to see it for a while.

David Lee - 6'9, 240 - Apparently "Double" Lee will finally get starting minutes which he has more than earned - with last year averaging 10.8 ppg and 8.9 rpg. D-Lee has the ability to win a rebounding title sometime down the road if he stays healthy and stays in the lineup. While he still needs some work on his jumper, Lee has the drive and the desire to improve (that's not a trait you come across easily in today's NBA). Mark my words, Lee will average at least 15 and 12 for the season if he gets his 35-40 minutes a game and his jumper will improve. Can the Knicks just lock this guy up long term already? You aren't going to attract a great free agent in 2010 if you don't have a solid rebounder, hustler and defender on the team already.

Zach Randolph - 6'9, 260 - Owed a tremendous amount of money on his bloated contract. His contract extends past 2010 so he is still on the block even though an apparent trade to Memphis fell through recently. I like the fact that Mr. Walsh isn't rushing a trade just to ship him out of town, because who knows what big name player may get injured before February's trade deadline. Obviously, an injury will make a team more desperate and maybe the Knicks can pick up some picks or expiring contracts for Randolph. Overall, you can say what you want about "Mr. Doubles" but he'll go out there and get his double doubles whether you like him or not. He has been solid in the preseason and D'Antoni has done nothing but rave about him.

Quentin Richardson - 6'6, 235 - Q-Rich had his second best statistical season under D'Antoni when he was with the Phoenix Suns back in the '04-'05 season. He had his highest 3-point percentage of his career that season at .358 %. The problem with Richardson has never been talent or desire, it has been his inability to stay healthy. If he can stay healthy, look for Richardson to bounce back with a solid year back in the "7 second or less" system.

Anthony Roberson - 6'2, 180 - Who? Yeah exactly....next!!

Nate Robinson - 5'9, 180 - "Nasty" Nate should flourish in this system and it should be fun to watch, because he was born for this type of offense. Robinson finally has a coach that won't stab him in his back and unfairly bench him. Although he probably will never be a "pure" point guard since he is a munchkin, but he can still be an effective player off the bench to instill energy in the Knicks the way a young John Starks used to.

Malik Rose - 6'7, 255 - The classy veteran can still go at it on the boards and defensive side but his age will keep him out of the regular rotation - as usual. It'll still be fun to see Rose mentoring the young guys, basically being an extra assistant coach on the bench.

Final Rant - There has been one curious move made by the Knicks organization since Donnie Walsh has taken over and that is the trade of Renaldo Balkman. They traded Balkman for 2 scrubs on Dallas and then cut the scrubs? Something had to have happend behind closed doors to just cut ties with Renaldo. Balkman has done nothing but produce when he has had a chance and I know he doesn't have the talent to be an All Star. However, his hustle and "his never say die" attitude will be missed by many Knick fans and I wish him well.

Allan Houston's Comeback Attempt Stalls

Allan Houston one of the greatest Knicks of all time was trying for the second straight season to make a comeback from what was thought of as career ending knee surgery. However, Houston vowed to comeback and go out on his "own terms" which is respectable. H20 just couldn't stay healthy throughout training camp getting constant nagging injuries due to old age and not playing for a few years. This might be the end for Houston this season but you can bet he will try to try out next year if the Knicks allow it. A player with the competitive drive of Houston can not just hang 'em up and he has the right to go out on his own terms.

It sucks to say but Houstons time has passed and he should look into announcing or coaching. Maybe Houston can work with Danilo Gallinari and help out his sweet stroke to make it even sweeter....who knows?

Overall I wish H20 the best of luck in the future and I hope he tries and DOES come back next season to make the roster. Although the likely hood of him coming back and making the roster next year are probably slim to none. Sorry Allan but I speak the truth only.

Chandler Sprains Knee

A "mild" sprain will keep Wilson Chandler sidelined for the rest of the preseason. Chandler has turned into a huge bright spot on this Knicks team which has not had many in the past few seasons. He will be available to play in October 29th's regular season opener so no point of worrying about this. What us Knick fans are worried about is Stephon "Me" Marbury having a big role with the team he gave up on.....stay tuned.

Chris Duhon - 6'1, 185 - In back up minutes last season Duhon averaged five assists per game. For the Knicks last season the team leader in assists per game was their 2 guard Jamal Crawford and he averaged......five assists per game. Clearly this is an upgrade over last season's "starting" point guard in "Mr. Me" Marbury who averaged 4.7 assists per game. Duhon is a very good pass-first point guard, something the Knicks haven't had in years. However, take it easy on the Steve Nash comparisons. Duhon does not have the talent to win consecutive MVP awards (but of course I would love if he proved me wrong) but then again not many players do have the talent to win consecutive MVP awards.

Patrick Ewing Jr. - 6'8, 240 - The knock on Ewing Jr. is that he didn't have a stellar college career, but who cares. At least he went to college and received that experience and mental development. He is the same age as Eddy Curry and Curry has been in the league for seven years, and never has lived up to the hype. He is in the rare win/win situation in New York. He is the son of the greatest Knick of all time and they got him for Frederic Wies who has never played a game on this side of the Atlantic.

Danilo Gallinari - 6'8, 210 - The first round (tooth) pick of the Knicks is hurt right now (sounds like a Knicks first round pick to me). So while I live in New York I never get to see (or would care to see) any European games, I honestly have no idea how good he is or how good he can be. The only action I have seen him in is in the Summer League but his jumper looks like it is on point. Rumor has it he might start off in the D-League as we'll so stay tuned....

Dan Grunfeld - Uh, no.

Allan Houston - 6'6, 205 - The Knick great is trying to come back so he can go out on his own terms but is now sidelined with a hurt quad. Hopefully he makes the squad, considering he hasn't played in a few years at all. His main reason for coming back is that he does not want to have his knee injuries force him out. I hope he makes the team, but who's roster spot is he going to take? How wierd would it be if Houston made the team and he was wearing number 14 and not his old number 20?

Jerome James - 7'1, 285 - What can I say about him? I respect the hell out of the guy, I know I shouldn't, but I can not help it. Jared Jeffries - 6'11, 240 - One of the worst free agent pick ups in team history was apparently playing well in training camp and was closing in on a starting job. However, now Jeffries is out with a broken leg and we won't be able to see how well Jeffries supposedly fits in D'Antoni's system for at least six weeks. I have been real critical of Jeffries in the past for his terrible play and if anybody has paid attention to the Knicks over his tenure here you would see that this is rightfully so. In his entire Knick career he has looked lost out there but then again Isiah Thomas was the "coach". He was supposed to be a shut down defender in Washington but somehow he comes to New York and players routinely blow by him (but then again Isiah Thomas was his "coach"). I'm willing to give Jeffries a shot at redemption now that he has (one more time) a real coach. It's just too bad he broke his leg and we won't be able to see it for a while.

David Lee - 6'9, 240 - Apparently "Double" Lee will finally get starting minutes which he has more than earned - with last year averaging 10.8 ppg and 8.9 rpg. D-Lee has the ability to win a rebounding title sometime down the road if he stays healthy and stays in the lineup. While he still needs some work on his jumper, Lee has the drive and the desire to improve (that's not a trait you come across easily in today's NBA). Mark my words, Lee will average at least 15 and 12 for the season if he gets his 35-40 minutes a game and his jumper will improve. Can the Knicks just lock this guy up long term already? You aren't going to attract a great free agent in 2010 if you don't have a solid rebounder, hustler and defender on the team already.

Zach Randolph - 6'9, 260 - Owed a tremendous amount of money on his bloated contract. His contract extends past 2010 so he is still on the block even though an apparent trade to Memphis fell through recently. I like the fact that Mr. Walsh isn't rushing a trade just to ship him out of town, because who knows what big name player may get injured before February's trade deadline. Obviously, an injury will make a team more desperate and maybe the Knicks can pick up some picks or expiring contracts for Randolph. Overall, you can say what you want about "Mr. Doubles" but he'll go out there and get his double doubles whether you like him or not. He has been solid in the preseason and D'Antoni has done nothing but rave about him.

Quentin Richardson - 6'6, 235 - Q-Rich had his second best statistical season under D'Antoni when he was with the Phoenix Suns back in the '04-'05 season. He had his highest 3-point percentage of his career that season at .358 %. The problem with Richardson has never been talent or desire, it has been his inability to stay healthy. If he can stay healthy, look for Richardson to bounce back with a solid year back in the "7 second or less" system.

Anthony Roberson - 6'2, 180 - Who? Yeah exactly....next!!

Nate Robinson - 5'9, 180 - "Nasty" Nate should flourish in this system and it should be fun to watch, because he was born for this type of offense. Robinson finally has a coach that won't stab him in his back and unfairly bench him. Although he probably will never be a "pure" point guard since he is a munchkin, but he can still be an effective player off the bench to instill energy in the Knicks the way a young John Starks used to.

Malik Rose - 6'7, 255 - The classy veteran can still go at it on the boards and defensive side but his age will keep him out of the regular rotation - as usual. It'll still be fun to see Rose mentoring the young guys, basically being an extra assistant coach on the bench.

Final Rant - There has been one curious move made by the Knicks organization since Donnie Walsh has taken over and that is the trade of Renaldo Balkman. They traded Balkman for 2 scrubs on Dallas and then cut the scrubs? Something had to have happend behind closed doors to just cut ties with Renaldo. Balkman has done nothing but produce when he has had a chance and I know he doesn't have the talent to be an All Star. However, his hustle and "his never say die" attitude will be missed by many Knick fans and I wish him well.

Not a Meaningless Win

Yeah so the Knicks look good in beating the NBA Champs 104-97 and it was very nice to see. So lets not get to crazy it was a "meaningless" game because it doesn’t mean anything. However, coming off the worst 4-5 years in this franchises history a win is great and helps out the team’s mental psyche tremendously. Wilson Chandler looked great, Chris Duhon was looking like the point guard they hoped he was, and Patrick Ewing Jr. looked like he can be something special. Yeah I know it’s the preseason but come on you have to admit it was nice to see the Knicks play like in the words of Clyde a "cohesive unit".

Stephon Marbury needs to go no ifs ands or buts about it. When he was brought to the Knicks it was like "OH MY GOD WE HAVE STEPH!!!!" now we are saying the same thing but in a different way "OH MY GOD WE HAVE STEPH!!." Get this guy out of town and get him out fast Mr. Walsh please. He is not the guy to run the show. He is very very talented but talent was never the issue with this guy. I don’t think he went to class once for his entire time at Lincoln High School because he is as clearly as dumb as bricks. He is to basketball what former Quarterback Jeff George was to football, described as the million-dollar talent with a ten-cent head.

At this point if the Knicks don’t pick up a veteran point guard I’d be more then happy with a point guard by committee. We are in a rebuilding phase and we aren't going to win anyway so what do the Knicks get out of starting Steph?

D’Antoni could rotate Nasty Nate, J-Crawford, and Mardy Collins at the point.

Also people are saying that Gallinari could be a point forward in the mold of a Lamar Odom or the man who coined the position point forward Scottie Pippen. Only time will tell with Gallinari he is 19!!

If that is the case there is no room for "Star"bury on this team. If there are no suitors for his services via trade, let him sit for a year and let his contract come off the books. You don’t want to buy him out this season because knowing how my favorite teams work (Knicks, Jets, and Mets) he will end up winning a title with Boston, L.A. or Cleveland next season. I don’t think, check that, I WON’T be able to handle that.

Who do you trade Randolph or Curry? It Shouldn't Be a Tough Choice.

This is probably the easiest question in the world to answer. It is obvious that you have to move Eddy Curry over Zach Randolph. They both have ridiculous contracts which hinder the team (Jerome James and Stephon Marbury's contracts hurt the Knicks more but that's another issue). Here are the negatives and positives of both players and you tell me.

Zach Randolph
Positives - Consistent scorer, can create his own shot, can grab 10 rebounds without having any jumping ability what so ever, has range on his jump shot and could be used like Charles Oakley was in the 90s.

Negatives - Sometimes I nickname him the "Black Hole" because once it's passed to him it's usually a jumper, should have better passing skills, limited defensively and argues with officials too much.

Eddy Curry
Positives - Can score in the low post, age

Negatives - Doesn't work on his game, at 6'11 he doesn't block any shots, needs to be the focal part of the offense in order to score consistently, can't create his own shot, and even at his height he struggles to grab 5 boards in a game.

Give Eddy Curry away for a bag a chips, I don't even care. Eddy Curry needs to be off the court for any player with an expiring contract, I would even take a Kwame Brown. Brown did put up a double double on Curry the game before that Andris Biendrins grabbed 26 rebounds on him. Curry on the other hand has no other aspects of his game besides scoring from 5 feet away oh and getting dunked on. As far as Zach is concerned if there was a real star or scorer on that team you will be able to utilize the other aspects of his game and force him to give it up. They say he has no passing skills but who is he going to pass it too? The Knicks are 15-36 and were bad way before Zach was anywhere near MSG. Do not get me wrong though I would trade both away in a heart beat for a superstar, it's just that I would trade Curry first no doubt about it. Either way it's a moot point because getting these contracts off the Knicks' payroll won't allow the Knicks to sign anybody anyway.

I Wish I Were......

Imagine one day you wake up and all of a sudden you are 7’1” and listed as 280. You are coming out of high school and have never played organized ball before. You simply just excite people with your size and gifted athletic ability on the playgrounds just messing around with your boys. Then a local school Florida A&M takes notice of you and decides they want you to suit up. Nice a scholarship and you never played high school ball, it’s good to be this big isn’t it?

Then since you are 7’1” and can dribble between your legs as well as block shots, you get drafted in the second round of the 1998 NBA Draft. You are now playing for one of the best teams in the league (at the time) the Sacramento Kings sounds great right? However, reality sets in and you realize that they already have Vlade Divac, Chris Webber, Corliss Williamson, and Lawrence Funderburke (and Oliver Miller haha he was on the team but I'm just kidding) so you are not going to be doing much but sit on the bench. Since clapping your hands and being a cheerleader bores you, you decide you don’t care to work out or practice. Heck you are still getting paid right? Then to no ones surprise the Kings cut you, after only playing in a few games (rumor has it you were handed a black garbage bag to clean out your locker, OUCH).

So after collecting a couple of checks from the NBA (not millions but pretty good for the average American) you are in need of a job so you try out for the Harlem Globetrotters. You make it of course after all you have played in the NBA. Why the hell not play for the Globetrotters? You’re 7’1 what else can you do but play basketball. While “playing” for the Globetrotters you are recorded as dunking on an 11'4” basket. This helps you develop enough buzz to sign with a real team in Montenegro. Yeah it’s Montenegro but at least you are playing real organized ball again. You end up playing only 10 games and average 12.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. This is apparently good enough to land you a try out with the Seattle Supersonics.

So guess what you made the team, and are back playing for a REAL league (no disrespect to anybody who played or plays in Montenegro but Montenegro is Montenegro). Now, you’ve signed a contract and you are back in the NBA and you no longer have to “struggle” financially. So you celebrate a little and start eating a lot and just sit back and enjoy life once again. You are constantly on your brand new leather couch playing video games and watching movies instead of practicing. You end up getting the starting nod but you are quickly tagged as a lazy player who commits too many fouls, you are sent to the bench. Well what did you expect if you don’t work out? As Walt “Clyde” Frazier always says, “When players are tired, they play defense with their hands and not their feet” this obviously leads to frequent foul calls which ultimately reduces your minutes. What’s the big deal anyway? If you are sitting on the bench at least you are in the United States and getting great checks.

Then after three years in Seattle you earn another rep (on top of lazy and out of shape) the dreaded rep of selfishness. You are constantly called out by then Sonic Coach Nate McMillan for only caring about yourself. Then after a game you are asked the question of what you think about McMillan’s criticism you respond with, “I don’t know what he’s talking about, I just worry about (your name here).” Hmmmmmm.

Now it’s your contract year and your agent advises you that, ‘If you work out, play well and act like you really care some sucker out there will give you a huuuuge deal, I’m talking millions upon millions!!! Come on you’re 7’1”!!! Joe Pryzbilla got $3.35 Million over 2 years and you are ten times more talented then Joel Pryzbilla!!’ (This is not an actual quote).

Then you hit the gym, motivated more then ever by dollar signs. How can anybody blame you considering what you have gone through over the past couple of years? Then you end up playing real well and turn your career around in that one season. To top it off you play amazing in the playoffs better then ever before and it is against your former team the Kings. In game two you go for 19 pts, 9 rbs and a block. In game 3 you go for 22, 9 and a block!!! Then comes game 4 and you rack up 17 pts, 8 rbs and 4 blocks!!! CHA-CHING!!! This helps the Sonics beat your former team the Sacramento Kings 4 games to 1. CHA-CHING!!! So after the clinching victory you grab a garbage bag, wrap it around your neck like a cape and run around mocking the Kings. Who cares if we lost in the second round to the Spurs, life is great and you’re about to get a real deal NBA contract. I’m talking millions upon millions of dollars.

Now who wants to be that “sucker” that buys into a 30 year old having a breakout season?!?!? Hopefully it happens I mean you played amazing in the spotlight why can’t you get a deal? You are definitely deserving of a huge guaranteed contract, right? Then your agent sends you a text message saying, “How does $5.8 million a year for 5 years playing in New York sound?” (This is not an actual quote) You then jump up in the air and yelp out a big “YABA DABA DOOOOO!!!” because you are now financially secure now for the rest of your life with this guaranteed money…..NOW you have truly made it. So you go and sign that contract immediately before Isiah realizes what he is doing. Now it’s time to really drown yourself in the kind of comfortable furniture millionaire’s use. Psh why would I waste my time getting in shape for the Knicks? This team is horrible. Have you caught on? I am talking about Jerome James.

Now I ask you this, do you wish you were Jerome James? I know I sure as hell would love to be him. So now that James is back from whatever “surgery” he had on his “foot” you should have no reason to boo him. After all he is just living a dream and he beat the system. Is it his fault the system is flawed? He treats the NBA like a job not a sport. Why can’t players treat it like that if the Owners and front office executives treat it that way?

Guaranteed contracts are ruining the NBA and Major League Baseball. Guess what sport doesn’t have guaranteed contracts, the most popular and best run league in American sports……the NFL. So from now on please don’t blame Jerome for going about his business the way he did. You can’t hate on him because he signed a contract that gives him guaranteed millions. Hate on the sucker Isiah Thomas.

James is absolutely the worst free agent signing in NBA history don’t get me wrong there is no doubt about that. But at least he is going to be known for something right. Look at Bill Buckner he has accepted being known for having a ball go between his legs and he embraces interviews now instead of running from them. Jerome has a legacy whether you like it or not. I’m sure he doesn’t care what he is known for or what his critics say. If I were Jerome James my life motto would be (taken from the late Stack Bundles) “Haters call me a lot of names but never call me broke.”

Apparently the entire New York Knicks basketball team was asked to leave practice and they all complied. Isiah Thomas threw all of them out for not playing hard. Can you really blame them? First "Coach" Thomas takes a team vote to see if they want Stephon Marbury(who walked out on the team the day before) still on the team, they voted unanimously, NO. So what does Isiah do? He effectively invites Stephonie Marbury back to the team. Thomas you have lost this squad, step aside and find another coach, or simply take a walk. As of now on what has just taken place, the team walk out, it is clear as long as Isiah Thomas is coach of the Knicks they will never be a contending team.

Ok, "Coach" and Prez as a fan I need an explanation. I need an explanation not to why did you bench Marbury, not to why did you fine Marbury $190,000, not to why did you welcome him back to the team and dress him for tonight's game against the Clippers. However, what I do need an explanation from you "Coach" Thomas, as a fan, is to why the hell is Marbury playing and why is he in in the final minutes of the game?!?!?!?! This guy just disrespected you to the fullest extent of the word by walking out on you and the team like a 12 year old boy and oh yeah threatened to black mail you!!! Stephon has no desire to win, his body language shows he does not care, what's the point of putting this loser on the court?!?! Come on if you put him on the court you know he is going to take the final shot You know he is going to ruin whatever play you called, just to take it to the hoop trying to be the hero.

You don't know how to draw up a play on an inbounds pass. You waste your final time out for nothing. If you were smart you would step aside and bring back JEFF VAN GUNDY!!! Marbury Fined

Stephon Marbury was fined $180,000 for not showing up to the Suns game last night. He apparently has flown to L.A. to participate in tonights game against the Clippers. Marbury also threatened to black mail his coach saying something like, I got so much stuff on him. Way to go Steph you are proving to everybody you are selfish and one of your biggest backers(me click here for a article I wrote on Steph defending him http://knickscentral.blogspot.com/2006/10/give-steph-break.html#links) now can't stand you. Stephen A. Smith on ESPN Radio today brought up a great point about Marbury. Smith said that look at 30 + guards in the recent history of this league particularly in Detroit Joe Dumars was benched for a young Allan Houston and Isiah Thomas was benched for a young Lindsay Hunter!!!! There becomes a time in every players life when you just lose a step or you just have to earn your starting spot back. Marbury being the selfish, psycho, crybaby that he is believes he is above all of that.

With possibly the final chapter of the Stephon Saga soon approaching(soon to be traded), Zach Randolph aka Mr. Doubles still attending to family matters and the Knicks playing at one of the best teams in the league(Suns) you knew there was no chance from the start. All you had to do was look at the starting lineups, the Knicks were missing 3 of their 5 and the Suns have 4 former All Stars. Not to mention the stereotypical NBA ref trying to steal the limelight. Joe Crawford called foul after foul on the Knicks mainly Curry(sometimes just for breathing). Joe Crawford is also the same guy who got suspended last year for kicking the nicest guy in the L out of a game(Tim Duncan) for simply laughing on the bench!! What this Ref Joe Crawford doesn't understand is that as fans we don't watch the games or go to the games to see the officals dominate the action!!! So it's all good then we have the start of a new era for the Knicks we have a new starting point guard Mardy Collins a young guy hey you never know, oh wait, he was hurt half way through the 1st quarter. Also to top it off Renaldo Balkman hurt his ankle towards the end of the 4th, with all that said the Knicks had no shot. As a Knick fan it almost feels like we are cursed(the curse of Patrick Ewing perhaps?). There was a few bright spots though, Fred Jones showed he can play well(when he gets more then 2 minutes in 4 games) and Wilson Chandler looked like he can be a noticable young talented player who can see more significant minutes in the future.

So now the trade talk for Marbury starts. How about Steph to L.A. for Odom? Or Steph to Sacramento for Artest or Bibby? Obviously these trades wouldn't be straight up, one player for one player, since the NBA has the annoying restrictions of trading equal salaries. All of this is anybodys guess. However, if you see Stephonie Marbury(yes Stephonie) in a Knick uniform again I will be in shock. I am also currently searching for my recipt for my $50 dollar Marbury jersey I purchased a few years ago.

Stephon Marbury has been benched and Mardy Collins will start in place of him(finally). Steph being the cry baby that he is did not show up for morning shoot around and the Knicks don't know where he is. The word is Eddy Curry may be benched as well. The Knicks blew tonight's boring, slow moving, unexciting game mainly because they didn't have Zach Randolph and Stephon Marbury does not care. Randolph was out for this one due to the death of his Grandma, his 20 points per game where missed especially towards the end of the game. It seemed like nothing exciting happend this entire game, no player on either team scored over 20 points. It also felt a little like the old Knicks/Heat games of the 90s, except for the fact that those games were exciting. Whether it was Ewing dunking over Mourning or PJ Brown power bombing Charlie Ward, there never seemed to be a dull moment. The only exciting part of this Knicks/Heat game was the final seconds. When effectivly Marbury and the Knicks blew the game. If the Knicks want to be a contender, Marbury can't take jumper after jumper or 3 ball after 3 ball with 20 seconds left on the shot clock(like he always does). He always does this at the worst possible times, for example, the Denver game. He shot a 20 footer with about 20 left on the clock, but he got lucky and was bailed out by Balkman's offensive board. Steph also did it tonight time after time throwing up shots that Clyde would call dubious. Yeah he did make a couple 3s, however, just throwing it up and praying it goes in, is not the best strategy. Marbury is turning into a joke, he shows no enthusiasm and doesn't seem to care about anything. So Steph if you don't wanna be here don't tease us with good play from time to time and waste our 2 years, just go to Italy now.

In doing a preview of the first ten games I said this "11/09 - Friday - VS Orlando - 7:30 - MSG - Dwight Howard vs Curry & Randolph, Howard can probably jump over both of them" I didn't think it was actually possible. Honestly, I was just trying to be funny but after watching Dwight once again, I believe it now, he can jump over anybody and out run any big man. "Every time we got impatient Orlando capitalized on our impatience" said Isiah Thomas in the post-game press conference, he couldn't be more right. Bottom line Curry can't keep up with Dwight Howard who is the best big man in the game today no matter what anybody says. Howard is better then Yao better then Shaq right now he is simply the best. The Knicks have the scoring to keep up with the elite teams in the league but absolutely do not have the defense. Richardson and Curry had 19 and Zach Randolph aka Mr. Doubles had another double double going for 23 and 13, sounds good right? However, four players on the Magic scored over 20 points and Dwight Howard had 20 boards, yes 20 rebounds. So again the Knicks need to get tougher defensively. Maybe Isiah should pop in some old tapes of the Knicks in the 90s to learn a little bit about how to play some tough defense. Or maybe the Knicks should just bring back Jeff Van Gundy to show these guys first hand.

What a game, what a gaaaaame, I was blessed to be able to attend. The Knicks were down by 10 on three separate occasions and managed to come back every time. I was hoping for a hard foul to ignite another brawl but it's good for the NBA that didn't occur. There was one play when J.R. Smith went up on a fast break and Steph fouled him relatively hard, but they both just held their arms up and walked away from each other like nothing happend(wusses). Zach Randolph led the charge with his best game as a Knick and maybe of his career with 22 points and 17 rebounds!! This is why we got rid of Channing "Softy" Frye (who was the 9th pick in the draft!!!!) for a solid low post player and soon to be All-Star power foward. Four of the Knicks scored over 20 points(Randolph 22, Curry 24, Marbury 21, and Crawford 25) seriously, when was the last time you could say that. Balkman was one of the main sparks in the 4th quarter that helped the Knicks volt passed the Nuggets. What's amazing too is that Eddy Curry actually BLOCKED A SHOT!!!! Amazing I know, I pinched myself about three times to make sure I wasn't dreaming. New York did have trouble stopping one of the greatest players of this era Allen Iverson, he dropped 32 points. A.I. hit impossible shots throughout this game, some of them just weren't even fair to the defense. Carmello "Hit and Run" Anthony played pretty well with 24 points and 9 assists, he also led the game in boos. I wanted to bring a sign that said "HEY MELLO, HITTING AND RUNNING IS ILLEGAL" but I was sitting in the 300's so nobody would have seen it anyway. It was also great to stick it to Georgo Karl who called Isiah a jack ass, he is right but in my mind only Knicks fans have a right to call him names. It was really surprising to see Coach Karl get his head out of Larry Browns ass long enough to coach this game. All and all, when the Knicks starting lineup scores like this, when Crawford has 8 assists and Steph has 9, there's not many teams in the league that can beat them. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself (it is the 3rd game) but this team showed me something tonight against a solid Western Conference team.

Knicks Win Home Opener

The stars were out in full force at the Garden for a very entertaining home opener that was fun to watch. So if you were watching the Patriots/Colts game (most likely you were) you missed a fun one. You missed Jamal Crawford on top of his game crossing Marco Jaric and Rashad McCants all night long. Crawford ended up dropping 24 and adding 7 assists. Also Mr. Double Double Zach Randolph scored 15 and grabbed 10 boards. The Knicks improved also on their dreadfull free throw shooting improving to a decent, but not good enough 76.9% from the line. Eddy Curry went 2-6 from the line, I wouldn't say that was an improvement from the first game going 0-5, but hey at least he made 2. In order for the Knicks to continue to win games Curry needs the ball down low more and Randolph has to stop shooting 20 footers with nobody underneath the hoop. If they do that, as well as improve on their free throw shooting, this team definitly will make the playoffs. Then again, they beat the Timberwolves who are going to be fantastically terrible the entire season. With all that said it still feels good to have a win.

Horrible Loss

What a disheartening loss for the Knicks in their season opener. Lebron was Lebron dropping 45 of on the Knicks D and Boobie Gibson dropped a career high with 24. The Knicks where neck and neck with the Lebrons all night untill the end of the game. The game broke open a little bit when the Knicks where burned on some questionable calls under the basket. One in particular on Eddy Curry when he got mugged by Big Doof (I mean Big Z). Following that call the Cavs ended up going on a little run and up by 8, a lead the Knicks couldn't over come that late in the 4th. However, if the Knicks where at least average from the line they would have won this game. So an 0-5 by Curry at the line + a 60.9% free throw percentage as a team = 0-1 start to New York's season.
